Cornell Psychology Department Chair Statement
It is a pleasure and an honor to be associated with all the people devoted to the study of psychology here in the Department of Psychology at Cornell University. Our undergraduate students are extremely talented and enthusiastic, our graduate students are a select, creative group of young investigators, our faculty are well-known internationally for their many research accomplishments, and our staff members make everything run smoothly in a congenial atmosphere. The department is devoted to advancing knowledge of all aspects of behavior and so almost any empirical question is fair game for inquiry, as the accompanying list of research topics makes clear (see research questions).
The department emphasizes three broad areas of inquiry:
- Behavioral and Evolutionary Neuroscience
- Perception, Cognition, and Development
- Social and Personality Psychology
Please see the appropriate pages of our website for more comprehensive descriptions of points of emphasis in each of these three broad areas.
We have designed this website to allow you to find an answer to almost any question you might have about the study of psychology at Cornell.
